The 2023 First American Bank scholarship application is now closed.
The FAB scholarship was established in 2012 to help graduating seniors from Chaparral High School (Chaparral, N.M.) realize their educational goals and dreams. The mission of the scholarship is to increase student graduation rates, establish partnerships with higher education institutions, and give students and families the ability to afford a college education.
The scholarship allows eligible Chaparral High School students to attend college or university and have a significant portion of their education paid for through this fund, the New Mexico Lottery scholarship and other financial aid.
Congratulations to the following 20 Chaparral High School graduates who are the 2022 scholarship recipients: Dafne Arellano-Jurado, Destiny Camacho, Jonathan Carbajal, Priscilla Cardenas, Melanie Cervantes, Laura Coheto, Melanie Enriquez, Yadira Estrada, Angelica Hernandez, Jeanny Hernandez, Alonzo Hubert, Mairani Jimenez, Jaylenn Minjarez, Maria Del Sol Nunez-Pena, Kimberly Ochoa, Michelle Reyes, Karen Suarez, Cassandra Torres, Ericka Torres, and Marissa Torres.
In 2023, up to 20 recipients will be selected for awards up to $5,000 per semester for four years of undergraduate college education. Scholarships are need-based and are applied after other financial aid has been awarded.
Current Chaparral High School seniors who have been accepted to an accredited college or university in the country are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applicants must have attended Chaparral High School for at least three years, completed a FASFA for the upcoming year, and have maintained a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.0 through their first seven semesters of high school
Extra consideration may be given to students who have taken high school Honors or Advanced Placement classes.
